Diamond Envy, a boutique NYC jeweler specializing in colored diamonds, wanted a unique way to showcase their custom ring service. Instead of a product reel, I pitched them a silent film.

“Design Your Own Jewelry: A Love Story” follows a young couple on their journey from awkward encounter to perfect proposal, all without dialogue. Inspired by silent film aesthetic and designed to transcend language, the short was created with illustrator Julie Anderson, who hand-drew characters based on live-action video. I directed the full process: from concept to animatic to final compositing, editorial, and 3D production.

The result: a tongue-in-cheek love story that mirrors the care and personalization behind every custom piece.
